LinkedIn engagement rate calculator

Calculate a post's engagement rate using LinkedIn's published Page formula, understand the interaction mix, and compare the result with your own baseline. No account required.

Calculate your engagement rate

Your data stays in this browser and is not saved or sent to Forgo.

Formula:(clicks + reactions + comments + reposts) ÷ impressions × 100. This matches LinkedIn's published Page definition. Leave clicks at zero when you do not have a comparable click metric.

Interpretation

A percentage needs a comparison group

Account size, audience, topic, format, and the definition of an interaction all affect the rate. A useful benchmark is usually the median of your own recent posts with a similar job—not an unattributed global average.

Use a median

A median reduces the influence of one viral post or unusually weak outlier.

Compare like with like

Separate personal profiles from Pages and organic posts from boosted content.

Keep the formula stable

Do not include saves one month and exclude them the next without labeling the change.

Check audience quality

A lower rate from the right senior buyers may be more valuable than broad reactions.

Review absolute counts

A high percentage on a tiny impression base can still represent very few people.

Connect to outcomes

Use profile activity, conversations, and opportunities to understand business value.

Method

How LinkedIn defines Page engagement rate

LinkedIn's current Page analytics documentation defines engagement rate as interactions per impression. Interactions include clicks, reactions, comments, and shares or reposts. Impressions are estimated displays of the post, so the result should be treated as a useful platform metric rather than a precise count of people.

Engagement rate = (clicks + reactions + comments + reposts) ÷ impressions × 100

Personal-profile analytics expose a different mix of metrics, including saves, sends, profile activity, and link engagement. If you create a custom profile rate, name it and keep its inputs consistent. Do not compare a Page rate that includes clicks with a profile rate that excludes them as though the definitions were identical.

Common questions

LinkedIn engagement FAQ

What is the LinkedIn engagement-rate formula?

For LinkedIn Page content, LinkedIn defines engagement rate as interactions divided by impressions. Interactions include clicks, reactions, comments, and reposts. Multiply the result by 100 to express it as a percentage.

What is a good LinkedIn engagement rate?

There is no universal rate that is fair across account sizes, audiences, formats, and goals. Compare each post with the median of your own recent, similar posts and review audience quality alongside the percentage.

Can I use this for a personal LinkedIn profile?

Yes, with a consistent definition. Personal-post analytics may show reactions, comments, reposts, saves, sends, profile activity, and link engagement rather than one official Page-style rate. Enter the metrics available to you and document which actions you include when comparing posts.

Does Forgo save the analytics I enter?

No. The calculator runs in your browser. The values are not sent to Forgo or stored in an account.
